DecaLogos Condemns Obama’s Approval of Embryonic Stem Cell Research

On March 9, 2009, Barack Obama lifted a federal ban on embryonic stem cell research. Embryonic stem cell research differs from say ovum stem cell research, because the ovum is fertilized – that is to say, embryonic stem cells are harvested from the beginning stages of human life.
The right to life is derived exclusively from the command of God saying Thou shalt not murder. There is no other source for a right to life, as rights – to be rights – must be of super-natural ordinance. If a government can grant the “right” it can surely revoke such a grant, which by definition is not a right, but a government-granted privilege. Read more
